who is see Chee how?

Chee How was not born the person he is today, he had to walk through many doors to become who he is now.

 

Little did anyone know that his journey in politics began more than 35 years ago, starting off as the side-kick of then one and only Kuching opposition Parliamentarian the late YB Sim Kwang Yang. It was at this time when he was taught that this fight for a better Sarawak is nothing less of an arduous one but nonetheless, he put himself into it in hopes of one day seeing that every Sarawakian would together enjoy the fruits that they deserve. Fuelled by the energy of his youth and largely by the motivation to do good and bring about reform to the corrupted system, Chee How together with late YB Sim successfully brought a ripple of hope where the waves can still be felt in major cities across the state. 

 

8th of August 1998 is just another day in life for most of us. To Chee How, this day marks the beginning of an excruciating 10 days in which together with 17 other foreign nationals are detained by the military junta in Burma for demanding one thing that we take for granted all these years, democracy. It is during this time that he found his true calling in life to pursue a legal career. One that truly allows him to present himself fully and to represent the people.

 

Now a human rights lawyer in practice, Chee How together with Baru Bian fought hard alongside the oppressed against what was deemed “The Bosses”, believing that the people should instead be their own boss. From the Election Commission to Sarawak State Government, none of these institutions are able to walk over the people under Chee How's watch. His name is not uttered only in the Chinese communities, but also across Iban, Malays, Bidayuh, and Orang Ulu communities where his tale of fighting tirelessly from one courtroom to another had earned their undisputable respect.

 

In 2020, Chee How was disposed from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) by the central leadership committee over some disagreement on issues pertaining to the state autonomy. This did not came as a surprise. A firm believer of the notion that Sarawakians must be the man of their own house, Chee How and Baru went on to join Parti Bersatu Sarawak (PSB), a local opposition party independent from neither Pakatan Harapan nor Perikatan Nasional, both of which in one way or another failed to adequately afford Sarawakians what is truly theirs. The end, in this case actually marks a new beginning for both of them. Gone are the days when they had to fly over 900 kilometres away to be told to wait hours before being put down for ideas that would enrich Sarawak over our Malayan counterpart. 

 

Elected as the State Assemblyman for N11 Batu Lintang for two consecutive terms, Chee How is now ready to serve his constituents for another term in hopes for further realizing the dream of "Sarawak Rights with just and equitable wealth distribution".
